PORTO ALEGRE: Bom Dia Brasil, tudo bem?

Current location: click here

As already the case with Bolivia and Chile, it's now time to say good bye to Uruguay for this trip. Next stop is Porto Alegre in Brazil. Did I say Brazil? already? Yes!  that's how time goes.

The change from the spanish speaking to the portuguese speaking world was not that hard, probably because of the many brazileans that I met in the previous days. To my surprise the border cross was completely handled by the overnight bus drivers and had not impact in our schedule. Finally!

Porto Alegre is the capital city of the state of Rio Grande do Sul. As a comparison, the state is bigger and has more inhabitants than the neighbor country Uruguay, and Porto Alegre more residents than Montevideo.

The hostel I stayed is located in the Cidade Baixa, close to Rua da Republica. I met here Phil from Pennsylvania and went out a couple of time for beer and dinner. Phil is considering moving to Porto Alegre. Good luck from this place!
