EL CHALTÉN and Mount FITZ ROY

Current location:  click here

Have you heard of a place called El Chaltén? If not you are not alone; I didn't know anything about it until this trip. What I knew was Mt. Fitz Roy and my wish to visit it got me to El Chaltén.

Now I know it is a really nice, small town 3 hours north of El Calafate. It is a convenient stop for all those who want to do some trekking or, like in my case, just visit the area.

The 3 hours bus drive from El Calafáte to El Chaltėn went very fast, talking with Lisa about Melbourne, Santiago, Munich and live.

This time the weather was really on my side. Here some views from the town while walking to the entrance to the National Park on the next morning.

I did the one day walking tour the the Laguna Mirador.  After it I thought on canceling my bus to Ushuaia; it was superb! and the weather couldn't be better.

I also went to the place called Mirador de los Condores and saw a few of them. It amazing to see how fast this birds can move from the small hill to fly over the glacier underneath Mt. Fitz Roy.

Do you see him below?  (it's a male condor) look at almost the center of the photo.

My stay in El Chaltén was really short (one night) and provided 100% return. It was very nice. Next stop will be Ushuaia.
